the grandma or eldist is getting money from her husband dying each of them wants this money one to become a docter and the other to open a lichor store and the grandma dosent really know what to do with the money and dosent really want to give it to any of them also none of them want to loose the money in there invesments it is a gamble for them.

A lot of things happen in this scene that could be disappointments or concerns. Ruth is pregnant. That alone could be a concern, but when she reveals that she is planning on having an abortion, thats even worse. Another one is the guy that calls Beneatha. He is African and the family is ignorant towards Africans. Walter is disappointed about his life and the poverty that he lives in and the job that he has. Another concern is the unclean house and cockroaches. The women are concerned about Walters plan to invest in the liquor business with the insurance check. Another disappointment is that Beneatha and Asagai dont see eye to eye when it comes to their relationship and future.

Ruth gets back from her doctors with the news that she is pregnant and she is thinking that this baby will tear the family apart so she considers abortion as an option. When mama tells walter what’s going on and that Ruth might be considering an abortion walter is deeply hurt and leaves the room, he is probably upset not only because abortion is illegal but because he would never want her to give up a child. Also Beneatha is struggling with embarrassment from her family, is having problems with being who she wants to be and has feelings for Asagai.

There are indeed a series of contreversial events that happen in scene 2. The first one is when Beneatha receives a call from her friend Joseph who is very influencial on Beneatha. He is very tied to the African culture and wonders why Beneatha is not this way. They are both dissappointed at eachother. The second event is when Ruth finds out that she is pregnant. She is very nervous about it and tries to tell Walter. Once they finally get the chance to talk Walter does not listen and Ruth leaves into the bedroom. After Mama tells him that she is getting an abortion. Dissappointedly he leaves the house without telling Ruth about anything. The reader can tell that Mama is very concerned about this whole baby situation.

Ruth is disappointed when she finds out that she is expecting and Walter is disappointed as well when Mama tells him that she won’t be giving him money to invest in the liquor store. Mama is disappointed when Walter doesn’t have the strength to tell his wife not to have an abortion. Walter is secretly concerned about his family and how they live, even though he sometimes acts like they’re not tight with money. Ruth and Mama both become upset and angry with Walter when he won’t even talk to Ruth and when he does it’s with very little respect.

Bennie is upset with the way Asagai (sp?) is talking to her and “looking down” on her. Walter Lee is upset because Mama won’t give him the money he needs to invest in a liquor store, Ruth is pregnant with an unwanted baby, and Mama is upset with Walter Lee for not talking her out of abortion. Mama is secretly concerned about Walter’s morals and the lack of his similarity to his father, and also concerned with the fact that Ruth wants to rid herself of this new child.

Ruth gets pregnant, and while Mama is excited and hopes it is a girl, Ruth is feeling anxiety and is contemplating an abortion. A seemingly unthinkable operation. She later reveals that she has indeed made the down payment for the operation.

Scene 2 has dissapointment and cocern throughout. First Ruth comes home after she found out she was pregnant. Bennie and Ruth seem very concerned and uncertain about the pregnancy. Second Walter come home and does not listen to Ruth, who wants to tell him about the pregnancy. And he and is mother talk tand it is very apparent that he is embarrassed about his life and his job.

Throughout scene 2, Bennie and Lena are obviously consumed with thoughts of Ruth and the ten thousand dollar check scheduled to arrive. When Ruth returns, news of a new baby brings worry and distress. I think Ruth felt she needed to sacrifice her unborn to save her family. There simply wasn’t enough money. Then when Lena receives the check, she feels sadness over excitement. Walter becomes upset when he hears word of Ruth’s organized abortion and Lena’s strong uphold on spending the money on more important things, especially not a liquor store. Tension is growing and I feel Walter is about to do something drastic!

Walter is concerned that Ruth will have an abortion, and when she confirms it, he is disappointed with her and leaves.
Asagai is disappointed that Beneatha does not feel the same way he does
Beneatha is disappointed in the way her family turned out. They do not have a good social status or economic situation. She feels embarrassed by it when Asagai comes to visit.

Starting off with the biggest, Ruth is pregnate. Though this sort of information is usually to be celebrated, with the family’s current financial situation and tension within the household it is greeted with a grimice. This introduces how unstable Ruth and Walter’s marrage is and presents the ugly truth to the realy troubles at home.

Mama is also watching from the side line the family begining to crumble. When the issue of the check arises, Walter expresses his true feelings and all the negativity he’s been holding inside is released.

Beneatha also begins to show her rebleous side pertaining the to issue of religion and the want for somthing more them just a husband with money.

When Ruth comes home and announces that She is pregnant, everyone except for Momma freaked out. Everyone was really concerned about Her. But Momma didn’t want Her to get an abortion.

Walter was upset with His life and the fact that He couldn”t use the money for the liquor store.

Mama is going to recieve her check for $10,000 in this scene. There is commotion in the house on what she is going to do with her money. Walter is hoping Mama is going to give it to him to invest into a liquor store, even though no one else in the family thinks it is a good idea. Ruth finds out she is pregnant and is concerned with how she is going to raise a baby when they are so poor. She went to see a doctor and put a $5 down payment on an abortion. Mama tells Walter to talk her out of it and be a man but he is too frusterated and doesn’t know what to say to her. Mama still doesn’t know what to do with the money and almost feels guilty about having it. Everyone in the house is stressed out and everyone is worried about what Mama is going to do with her $10,000.

I think that Ruth being pregnant is somewhat of a disapointment with many concerns. Another disapointment was for Beneatha when she tells Asagai she wants to be an independant and strong woman, and he scourns her, and he is concerned about her not caring for him. Walter is disapointed with his lack of money, and concerned about it. He also is concerned if ruth will have an abortion, and disapointed that she has made the down payment on the service.

Walter is very excited to get into this new liquor venture with willy and now is only waiting for that one check. Walter is embarassed of his poverty and wants to move up with the liquor venture. Than the family finds out Ruth is pregers. All are very worried and dont know what to do. When finally the check comes ruch uses it for a downpayment on the abortion hence making there no money left for Walter and ruining his dream of the liquor venture.

one of the bigest concerns is that ruth is preggers and want an abortion. Bennie is into this african boy, who brings her a robe…he just got back from canada. They are also still poor.

IN RESPONSE TO QUESTION

many of the characters in scene two are hiding what they believe in … their dreams … their thoughts … concerns and disappointments … some carry more than others, but each display their emotional burden by lashing out at their loved ones … hence increasing the load of their burdens … not very effective mental handling, huh?

Ruth is concerned about her new pregnancy, and wether or not to have an abortion, for which she has already scheduled. She is also concerned with her husband, Walter, for he seems to be more on edge lately …

Walter is concerned about where his family will be in the future … for Walter dreams of a big home and a lovely life … and he plots and plans ways to reach this goal, but his dream (his family) keeps stepping in the way of his reaching it …

Mama is concerned with what to do with her decided husband’s money … what to invest it in? to give it to Walter or not? and with the stress building on watching her beloved children suffer, Mama Lena suffers also …

Bennie is concerned about where she will or will not be … Bennie struggles day to day, hour to hour, fighting the restraints that her family and the “protocols” of society have placed on her … placed on her to be an “acceptable woman,” in their day and age … but Bennie wants to be everything but that … and Bennie’s seemingly absurd dreams push her family over the edge with the arguments.

poor little Travis is all but stuck in the middle … his mother’s worry for him is only the straw that breaks the camel’s back .

but do we not all have our moments of struggle in our lives and families ? … maybe this is just a point for the family to learn to grow …

the family can learn from Ruth to show respect to others … the family can learn from Mama Lena to show compation and willingness to help others … the family can learn from Walter to never give up dreaming … the family can learn from Travis to be young and enjoy life … and the family can learn from Bennie to question life and try new things to become more worldly and open minded …

it is all but a time of learning … a rough harsh time … before the sweet nector of knowledge flows through to give the family strength … like a raisin in the sun is hard, so is learning a life lesson … but just as wine is sweet, so is the knowledge that is to be gained …

Mama is concerned that she is ignorant on the subject of African culture when Beneatha’s African friend comes over. Also, Ruth comes home from the doctor that has told her she is 2 months pregnant. This worries Beneatha and Ruth, but Mama does not seem to be phased. Then when Beneatha is telling her guest her hopes of becoming an independent woman he laughs her off which disappointed her. Then when Walter gets home and wants to talk about his new investment Ruth wants to talk about her pregnancy so they just leave each other alone. Then Walter talks to Mama about how much he hates being where he is in life, and he wishes he were more successful.

The apartment full of cockroaches is no place for anyone to live. So Beneatha sprays the apartment with insecticide which can’t be good for anyone in the apartment particulary for Ruth who is 2 months pregnant. Walter is still disappointed for what he has in his life right now and is still very unhappy. Also Mama is thinking that Ruth is going to have an abortion for her pregnancy. The abortion will cost money which they don’t exactly have because they’re get $10,000 but its planned to be spent right away. So Walter is not convince she will get the service. Then again another person living in the apartment could cost even more money. So I think Walter is worried that his smoothe plans of owning that liquor store are going down the drain. So we’ll have to see how this all turns out.

mamma is worried about ruth because she talks about a female doctor and she knows that the doctor is a male. walter is worried about ruth’s pregnancy and her want to get an abortion. bennie is worried if the guy she likes is the right man for her. walter is worried about his liquor store idea.

there are some dissapointments in this section of the reading first it about ruth being pregnat and how once walter mama about the pregnancy she comes out and tells him that she put payment down on an abortion. this causes walter to leave. and also it raises a concern for ruth becuase it was illgal at the time to have abortions and how we don’t know what will transpire between the family. also there is a point when Asagai comes over to meet with Beneatha, he wants her to be more african and he has feelings for her but she wants to be succesful in life and not nessisarly story book love.

well Ruth is pregnant and its hard to tell if she planned it/ can handle it with the way they are living. and Asagai and benetha have this thing but dont know if its relationship worthy or not. Plus the fact that walter kinda want to do what he wants with the 10k even though its not his. And as mama points out “Somthing eating you up like a crazy man. The past few years i been watching you. You get all nervous acting and kind of wild in the eyes-” he’s obviously got somthing going on he doesnt want to or doesnt know how to deal with.

There are many disappointments in scene two. Mama does not like Bennie associating with an African who she believes needs to be saved from his own religion. Asagai is also disappointed that Bennie does not have the feelings for him that he has for her. Ruth finds out that she is two months pregnant and puts a down payment on an abortion. Walter is frustrated with his job and his financial situation and Mama tells him about Ruth’s plans. He cannot believe it, and walks out.

Ruth is obviously very disappointed and distraught over the fact that she is pregnant and her husband doesn’t even really care or comfort her. Benetha is disappointed that Asagi doesn’t see things her way about a woman being independent. And Walter is disappointed in his poverty. He barely makes any money and he is not proud of that fact.

Walter gets very upset when he finds out that ruth is pregnant and he knows that he will not be able to give that child a great life. so he gets very upset. He also wants things very badly to come through with the liquor store but they arnt looking all that great right now.

In Act1 Scene2 so much happens within the family. Beneatha really wants to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. Her mother thinks differently of this. She thinks that she can’t do it and women don’t do that. Then Beneatha brings a man to their house who has done so much. Mama is disappointed in the African American race for not knowing enough about where they come from. Asagai knows a lot about his home land and Mama wishes everyone did. Then Ruth comes home from a doctors visit and is pregnant. Mama is shocked but happy. Ruth them discusses that she might not want to keep the baby because of her marriage difficulties. When Walter comes home he just wants to leave without even noticing Ruth. Mama is disappointed in him for not even caring about his wife and Walter just wanting to get drunk. Mama also says that Walters father would also be very disappointed.

This chapter is mainly about the Younger household and what is important to them. Ruth is considering having an abortion to do what’s best for her “already living family.” Walter doesn’t think she would ever do such a thing when Mama tells him the news. Ruth confirms it, however, and Walter is shocked speechless.

Walter is disappointed because Mama won’t give him the $10000 he needs to invest in a liquor store. She doen’t believe it a sensible investment and doesn’t want to associate herself with such things.

everyone in the family loves eachother very much, but they are “debbie downers” to eachother. beenie want to date a rich man but mama does not approve. mama never got her house with a yard. ruth is getting an abortion. and walter is not getting support from his family about his liquor store idea. everyone just needs to start supporting eachother to help reach everyones goals

Mama and Beneatha seem concerned and worried about Ruth’s pregnancy and don’t seem to know how they will be able to raise another person in their apartment. Beneatha is very disappointed when she tells Asagai her dreams of going to school and becoming a doctor only to hear his disapprovement of her plans. There is also concern about Ruth’s abortion, and disapointment when Walter won’t listen to Ruth and then leaves the apartment angrily.

Well first of all none of the Youngers are especially satisfied with their home/money situation.
Ruth finds out that she is pregnant and right away she becomes worried so she decideds to have an abortion without consulting Walter. So he does not know what to do and Mama gets mad at him for not stnading up to her.
Beneatha is offended when Asagai tells her he does not like her hair straight because it is unnatural.
Mama tells Walter that he cannot use the check to invest in his liquor store. He has all the plans ready but his dream is crushed by one short converstion.

Well first of all Ruth Is pregnant and Bennie has a new friend and has problems with people putting her down for her dream of being a doctor.

There is a lot of concerns for having their dreams come true. When Ruth calls the doctor by “she” instead of “he”, mama gets very suspicious because their doctor is a guy. Ruth doesn’t want to tell her husband about her pregnancy because they got in fight and she doesn’t want to further complicate things. Walter wants to discuss his liquor store plans, but at the same time, Ruth wants to talk about her pregnancy. Ruth gets scared and decides to get an abortion. Walter is so upset he can’t say anything, so he walks out.

In scene 2, Walter cannot put in the money for the liquor store. Ruth is two months pregnant and she wants to get an abortion so she puts a down payment on the abortion service. This may be a start to a money concern in their family. If ruth gets and abortion, it will cost a lot of money but if she doesn’t, the baby will probably cost more over time. This almost ruins Walters hope of putting in money for the liquor store. There are two major dissapointments in this scene and they effect the family as a whole and some of their dreams.

The underlying problem is the lack of money in the family. Each person has a different opinion on what to do with the insurance check, and each person thinks that they are entitiled to make the decision themselves. Than Ruth has to explain to Mama and the family that she is pregnant, although it is not a huge problem, it does make things harder for her to get a job. Than Asagai tells Beneatha that her dreams are ridiculous and she should try to be more African, this hurts her feeling a lot. The Chapter ends with everyone wanting to talk about something other than the person than they are talking to. Ruth locks herself in the door becuase she is mad alter won’t talk with her. Lots of concerns and lots of dissapointments.

Act II in this we see that Walter wants to buy a liquor store but his mother won’t let him cause thats not the christian way and he gets mad. Ruth tells everyone in the family that she is pregant and she wants a abortion because have enough money to raise a second child, they barley have enough for one child. Benathe has a new friend and she is sick and tried of Walter putting her dreams down in the dump, because his dreams are, he tells her that she won’t become a doctor.

Since Ruth goes to the doctor and comes back with some iffy news the family changes a lot. Ruth lets them know that she is pregnant. She tells them all that she would like to lose the child in an abortion. This then makes Walter very upset because he would like to have a child around and doesn’t want to lose one just like that.

The first big disappointment is when Ruth recieves the information that she is pregnant. Even though for most people this is happy and joyful news but for Ruth it is disturbing. Ruth believes that if she does have the baby it could brake up the family. Also Walter is disappointed at himself for being impoverished and he believes it is his role as a man to bring in the dough. This is why he is so obbsessed with making money that he wont even listen to his wife when she tried to tell him she was pregnant.

In scene 2, there are many disappointments and hidden concerns that all mostly have to do with the issue of money. Ruth finds out that she is pregnant but wants to get an abortion so begins to store money away for the payments of an abortion. Mama becomes upset with Walter when he won’t stand up and tell Ruth that she shouldn’t get an abortion. Walter becomes disappointed when Mama won’t give him money for him to put towards a liqiour store he wants to open. Also Walter starts to become concerned with how they are going to live and keep their lives going with such a low amount of money.

Walter i worried that his liqure store idea will never happen. bennie is worried about the guy guy she likes. Ruth is pregnate and she thinks she needs an aborsion because they cant aford another child. bethanys dreams are called ridiculous and basically nothing is going right for the youngers.

MONEY–This whole book seems to revolve around the hardships of poverty. Poverty stands in the way of Walter’s dream of owning a liquor shop, Mama’s dream of owning a big house, and much more. Lack of money is the reason that when Ruth gets knocked up she is upset instead of being happy because she is worried about money. Like MDistin said, although lots of people get all excited and stuff when they get prego Ruth freaks out ’cause she is worried about money. So mama starts making a HUGE deal ’bout Ruth wanting to get a abort and she starts freakin’ ’cause she wants to be grandmama and all that sappy stuff… It’s just chaos in that house with all these people freaking out ’cause there isn’t enough cash to go around, and Walter goes nuts worrying about how the fam is gonna live on pennies and stuff.
Money is the issue prtty much.
